• Romney opposes amnesty or permanent legalization for
illegal aliens and temporary legalization for illegal aliens as
guest workers.
• He opposes allowing illegal immigrants to get driver's
licenses.
• Mitt strongly believes that illegal immigrants should go
home eventually and sign up for permanent citizenship legally
within a set period of time. This would be his final decision
again illegal immigration.
• With regard to the employers who have and are employing
illegal immigrants, Romney feels that they can't be penalized
with imprisonment. On the other hand they should hire non US
citizens who bear a valid social security number. This card
should be verified on the computer for authenticity before they
can be hired. If this is not followed, the employer would be
subject to sanctions similar to those for not paying taxes in the
country.
• Mitt Romney is in favor of scholarships and tuitions for
illegal immigrants. He has also supported scholarships funded by
taxpayers for illegal immigrants. He was reported to have
mentioned "I hate the idea of, in any way, making it more
difficult for kids, even those who are illegal aliens, to afford
college in our state."
• Children born in America from illegal parents become US
citizens by virtue of being born in the US. But in Romney's
opinion it's a mistake as these children are surely going to get
their family chain into the country illegally and thus legal
immigration cannot be protected. Legal applicants will have to
continue waiting for their turn to unite with their loved ones.
• Romney is against the 'Z visa' that allows illegal
immigrants to continue living in the US for 13 years before they
are able to become citizens of the country. He opines that it is
not fair to keep the legal applicants waiting to enter the
country through the proper procedure and allow the illegals to
stay.

• Obama wants to have a crack down on employers hiring
illegal immigrants by arranging stronger enforcement at the
workplace and at the borderline. His idea is to stop the flow of
more immigrants while being kind to the illegal immigrants
already living in the U.S.
• Obama feels that by increasing the legal fees on
immigrants is discriminating against people with good character
who don?t have the money to pay for immigration. Instead it
would be good to improve the Mexican relationship with the
government and use their economy to produce jobs on the other
side of the border.
• He feels that it is impractical to deport the 12 million
illegal immigrants to their countries, but instead it would be
better to get them from living in the shadows to the open through
the Dream Act by which children of these immigrants, who for no
fault of their own, have been born and brought up as Americans,
could gain higher education. He says there should be no two
classes of citizens in the country.
• If every student is allowed to study a second language,
English being the main language. English speaking children
should be encouraged to study foreign languages because the world
is interdependent and bilingual education would help Americans to
communication across boundaries.
• Obama plans to improve the immigration system by fixing
the dysfunctional immigration bureaucracy; bring immigrants out
of the shadows by allowing those who are in good standing to pay
a fine, learn English and apply for citizenship; work with
Mexico to promote economic development which will decrease
illegal immigration further.
