replied that free trade agreements were great to have and that he
definitely agreed with NAFTA and CAFTA, but it should be ensured
that the agreements were followed by both parties, which was not
happening.

• He said that the financial crisis is national security
threat as a country can be free only if it can feed, fuel and
fight for itself.
 
• Huckabee stated that he does not support the NAFTA
Superhighway that is currently being built from Mexico to Canada
which when completed will have certain parts under foreign
management.
 
• In his book 'From Hope to Higher Ground' Huckabee said,
"I believe in free trade and allowing the marketplace to push
innovative ideas to the top and prices to the bottom."

• He stated that giving good business to farmers in
America was also good for the consumer, because the principle
behind subsidies was that production will continue at a higher
level as a result of which cost of food will be lowered. He said
that subsidies would also help to safeguard the farmers from
natural disasters and hassles due to rise in prices of fuel, feed
and fertilizers.
