• Opposes federally funded embryonic stem cell research

?• Obama is of the opinion that stem cell research has
great possibilities which will be of enormous help in the
diagnosis and treatment of several distressing illnesses.
• His goal is to make America the number one country in
the stem cell research field. He has proclaimed that "we will
vigorously support scientists who pursue this research and will
aim for America to lead the world in discoveries it one day may
yield." These were his words while he signed an order to lift an
eight year old prohibition on embryonic stem cell research.
• He stands for expansion of the number of stem cell lines
available for research and wants to make sure that the ethical
standards will be adhered to in the matter of stem cell
research.
• Obama had also issued a law in Illinois State which is
to ascertain that only the embryos which become surplus should be
used in embryonic stem cell research and the donors should give a
written consent donating their embryos for further research.
• Obama has strictly prohibited human cloning and remarked
that "we will develop strict guidelines, which we will rigorously
enforce, because we cannot ever tolerate misuse or abuse."
• Obama has given his word to the nation that they will
never undertake this research lightly. He quoted that "We will
support it only when it is both scientifically worthy and
responsibly conducted."
