• Mike Huckabee favors a federal ban on Abortion.

• Obama voted YES on reauthorizing the Patriot Act and also
co sponsored the SAFE Act which is a bill to amend the USA
Patriot Act to place reasonable restrictions on the usage of
surveillance and the use of search warrants and includes other
purposes as well.
• He voted YES to strike the provisions providing immunity
from civil liabilities ton electronic communication service
providers for certain assistance provided to the government.
• He said it was necessary for the nation to strengthen
and improve intelligence capabilities. The Director of
Intelligence should be given the necessary authority he/she needs
over budget and personnel.
• He supports extending the right of Habeas Corpus to
Guantanamo detainees. This he thinks absolutely necessary to
prove to the world that the Unites States is not a country that
ships prisoners to far off countries in the middle of the night
to be tortured.
• He opined that the world should get the message that
America is a land of laws, a nation that stands against torture.
He strongly opposes interrogation methods and procedures that
brought about emotional and physical suffering.
• He said he would expand the Hate Crimes Statute by
supporting the Mathew Shepherd Act. This would strengthen federal
hate crime legislation and also pull up the Department of
Justice.
• He plans to ban racial profiling by federal law
enforcement agencies and provide federal incentives to local
police departments who help to prevent this practice.
